By popular demand, here is the recipe used with my molcajete for summer BBQ’n -
- 3 Haas avocados, halved, seeded and peeled
- 1 lime, juiced
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 to a whole jalapeno, depending on spice preference
- 1/2 medium onion, diced
- 2 small tomatoes, seeded & diced, preferrably home grown! But that’s later in the season
- 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
- 1 clove garlic, minced
Ground the garlic and onion and salt first into the molcajete, this coats the entire thing with yummy goodness.
I should add a pic to this, because it’s a beautiful dish served in the pig-head-molcajete :O)

December 20th, 2008 — fun
It looks like Festivus is gaining ground in the holiday wars, which is good. Happy Holidays is a lame greeting, and I’m even tiring of my merry new kwanzukah. If you are in or near NYC this Festivus, you can celebrate with free mac’n'cheese out of an automat, airing of grievances and the raising of the festivus pole at Bamn! on Saint Marks Place. December 23rd of course. It’s a book release party for what else but the new Festivus book, but I’m more interested in the feats of strength - I’m entering Sean and getting a betting pool going too.
I also love that you can Air your Grievances on the festivusbook.com website. Look for a few doozies shortly…
May you have few grievances to air and may you find your own festivus miracle!

Wow! I don’t have the horizontal space on my building to do something similar, but how fun is this?
